Random Sketches and Ideas

Here is a sketch of an idea I have for a new design. You'll have to overlook my technical drawing skills, lol, its really more of a scribble!! I will keep you posted on the progress, not sure when I will be tackling this one, but it will more than likely be tomorrow:) I'd really love to have a camcorder, then I could really document the progress of my work. I guess until that happens, I will have to rely on my little digital pocket camera.

New Progress Photos

Here is the start of my newest project. I decided to use some light distressed leather and mix some upholstery fabric into the design, adding color that I couldn't get with just leather. So far its looking nice. I will be posting the final work here maybe by tomorrow

New Bag Design and Coloring Page

Here is a sketch of a new bag I am making today
Not the best photograph but it gives you the idea anyways! Progress photos coming soon.

Here is a coloring book page that I am illustrating for a fundraiser in town. The final piece will be going into a bound coloring book which is full of local artists here in Reno. Its suppose to be a picture of me and its almost finished. Hope the kids will have fun coloring it. There is lots of room to color!!

My Ideas On Paper

I was having a very difficult time yesterday trying to get motivated to create something. Nothing was inspiring me. I guess its called artist's block. My sweet daughter said, "Don't worry mom, it will come to you." And I thought for a minute and realized that I have been forgetting the most important part of my creative development of ideas, and that is ...simply getting them down on paper, so that's what I did. I am not sure how I let this slip out of my life. Let's just say that many many things are distracting me in my life right now and my nightly sketching just sort of took a back seat for awhile creating a big roadblock for me. Now I can start moving forward again with ideas and get that all flowing again. I am not sure how I have been getting by in the last few months without it. Its so important for my creative process to keep drawing and dreaming up ideas. I am sure many of you artists can relate to this. With that all said, you should be assured that you will see a tremendous amount of new bags being made in the next month. It's about time!

Watercolor ATC Swap

ooops I forgot all about my atc swap and it has to go out today. The deadline came way too fast. I grabbed a fantasy book and was inspired to draw my characters. I love butterflies! and fairies! I did a pencil sketch and added my own style and features to each one. I will be painting these with watercolors and using some pen for added details. I will post my completed pieces here along with the new hobo bag when I am done providing I don't mess them up. Wish me luck!

"Found" 2 Buried Sketches

Preparing for the days work. I got my studio all cleaned and organized and now its time to work on a couple projects I have been wanting to start on. I finally updated my sketchbook blog with a couple of pictures I found in my sketch book last night. I wonder why it takes so long for me to post them.
Probably because while cleaning I found my sketch book buried. If you are interested in seeing them on my other blog, here they are. 2Sketchbookartists.
I would love to illusrate children's books someday

Ideas From My Sketchbook

While waiting for the glue to dry on my tassels today I went through some old sketches of ideas for handbags and this is the page that caught my eye first. One of the great things about keeping a daily sketchbook is that when you really are in the need of inspiration you can pull from your own original ideas very quickly and don't have to spend a lot of time coming up with a concept; its already there for you. I will be working in these tomorrow once my current project is completed.

They will be similar to this bag design that I completed in March with a few minor differences. I really enjoy the graphic elements in design. Big bold and colorful images that get your attention. I also enjoy hand cutting every detail each piece truly unique.

I have a feeling that the sketch of the rose in the center is going to be my favorite. It reminds me a little of this bag that I made for my etsy shop in February. I guess you can say I have a thing for flowers!!

Fabric in the Breeze

I started drawing this last night while relaxing before bed. It is a start of a girl holding up a piece of fabric blowing in the wind. It is going to be a watercolor. I started this one just thinking about motherhood and it developed into this. When it is finished I will list it for sale(if it is worthy of selling) in my Etsy sketchbook art store and also on my sketchbookart blog. I would like to do more watercolors. I just really need to make time. Right now my time is do consumed with sewing that I hardly ever pick up a brush anymore. I miss it.

Quilt Challenge with Scraps

Wow! The flower drop bag didn't last very long! I am shocked!
I think that means I need to make another one:)

Well I have a project to share. At my last quilt meeting we exchanged bags of scraps and this is the collection that I acquired. I feel sorry for the one that received my bag. I have the most unusual scraps, leather vinyl and upholstery. We are suppose to make something using 75% of what we acquired from the exchange and make something to bring for our next meeting which is on the 15th of this month.

I have been putting this off and so I finally did a little drawing to give me a little direction last night in my sketchbook. Here are the pieces that I have to work with although I am allowed to add my own fabrics to complete it.

Well I'm off to get my hair done.. Yay! and it is my bday tomorrow:) I get to do something nice for myself for a change!

Flower Drop Handbag

Well here it is. I cant believe it came out so cute! Here is the sketch and you can see how I original wanted to have the petals extending form the bag and draping. The inside ouch was to have beads and sequins on it but this all changed in a matter of seconds and here is a different version.
I think I am still going to experiment and try another one the way I originally planned. This is not the first drawing I did like this, in fact I need to locate my other sketchbook that has a better drawing of this bag in it.

I listed the purse on Etsy here
