Handmade Applique Zippered Cases

I haven't posted in a few days, I've been busy with the kids and took a day off for my birthday on Friday. Its been nice to just take it easy and has allowed me to get some things done around the house that I have been putting off. Today I am back to work, working on a bag for a charity and designing some new cases. Here are the latest few that I posted over the weekend. These were fun to create, just taking random pieces of scrap fabrics and designing as I go. No definate plan in my mind for each of them, and I am happy with the results. They are now listed in my etsy shop for sale. They are each $28 +2.5 shipping. Tracking and delivery confirmation included in the US.

New Eyeglass Cases

Something that my shop has been missing are a few eyeglass cases. Of course they would also be great for cosmetics or id, money and cards as well. I will be making some of these with inside slip pockets this weekend and staying within the same design range but will be changing the colors out for more variety. Mini 3 Pocket Black and Blue Python Print Leather Zipper Camera Case

Very similar to my last creation in pink, this blue python printed leather case is equally beautiful. Something fun about the materials that I used to make both cases are that they came from someone somewhere at Brighton handbags:) Apparently they had some small bits of left over materials and vendor leather scraps laying around that needed a home:) I am happy to be able to do just that!! New Black Red and White Case!

I Love this color combo. I am loving this fabric too! I can see these in big bags with some great pockets on the outside. A mini duffel style bag would be way too cute:) No outside zipper on this one, I think I had enough fun for one day. I do however like the improvement on the snap portion of this one. I like the stitching lots! This one is a keeper for sure;)

Alteration to Pattern

Today I made some adjustments to my pattern and added a zipper to one of the sides. This was a real sewing lesson and also a test with patience. It took twice as long as it usually takes me because I was extra careful with trying to figure out how to line to pocket too. I do enjoy this type of experimentation:) Its nice to follow tutorials when you can, but sometimes its fun to figure it all out on your own.

Leather Clam Shell Style Case

I made another small leather case today. This one has a nice leather inside pocket that is a good size for business, id or credit cards. Its also super roomy inside; perfect for a camera or phone. I will be exploring other possibilites of zippers on the outside instead of the strap on the front. I do like the stitching around the pockets so I may just leave the pocket style, but make it a zipper pocket for more security of contents. The great thing about new designs is I get to alter them a million times before they are perfect, right:)

Small Zipper Cases

I added 2 new cases to my shop today. One is made with a leopard print ultrasuede fabric and the other one is made of upholstery that I accented with a distressed leather pocket and snap and some drings. These are both small cases. and they zip around 3/4 of the way.

New Applique Card Case

I love the color combo in this one. After hours of cutting and machine applique I began to question out loud why I didn't just use a printed fabric and make it easier for myself; then my son answered, "Thats what makes your work so unique mom;)" I just love him!

Beautiful Metallics!!

I managed to get a lot of fabric cut today. I spent a couple hours cutting out material for mini card cases. I found my new love; this metallic copper vinyl. Its gorgeous! I have to make a big applique bag out of this! I also have a metallic teal color. I will have to do some digging and see what other metallics I can find. It looks like I will be busy getting some small cases added to my shop and creating a nice lower point selling item; something everyone can afford. Great for the high school craft fair coming up on the 7th.

New Mini Card Case

New! I really like this one. Today I have some running around to do, and that just means I will be working late again tonight to make of for the hours missed. Only a week before the show so I will be very busy! I am dropping off our show postcards and coloring book page at LaBussola this morning. They look great!

Mini Card Case

Today is an amazing day. Very warm and sunny out! I sold one of these little cases yesterday so I made another one to replace it and will be working on some others for my show coming up in a week. This is not the kind of day you want to be inside working. I am really ready for the warmer weather and its here today!!!

Mini cases - Halloween Planning

I am making more mini cases this afternoon. Last night was a fun night of carving pumpkins. I made some treat huge bags for the kids. Looks like it might rain; hopefully it will wait till the kids have had their fun tomorrow. Its so much cooler outside. Burrrrr!
