Tiger Lily Toile Mixed Media Cases

I just listed a series of 4 Toile Mini Zippered Cases in my shop today. I used a scrap piece of black and white toile cotton fabric and applied colorful upholstery and bits of leather to create original one of a kind pieces. I love to combine fabrics, raw edging and textures to created depth and interest. These are perfect for cards, phone, camera and other small items. They each measure 4.5 x 3.5. To see more pictures or to purchase one visit my shop here.
Each case is priced at $18 + $2 shipping

New Black Red and White Case!

I Love this color combo. I am loving this fabric too! I can see these in big bags with some great pockets on the outside. A mini duffel style bag would be way too cute:) No outside zipper on this one, I think I had enough fun for one day. I do however like the improvement on the snap portion of this one. I like the stitching lots! This one is a keeper for sure;)

Alteration to Pattern

Today I made some adjustments to my pattern and added a zipper to one of the sides. This was a real sewing lesson and also a test with patience. It took twice as long as it usually takes me because I was extra careful with trying to figure out how to line to pocket too. I do enjoy this type of experimentation:) Its nice to follow tutorials when you can, but sometimes its fun to figure it all out on your own.

Leather Clam Shell Style Case

I made another small leather case today. This one has a nice leather inside pocket that is a good size for business, id or credit cards. Its also super roomy inside; perfect for a camera or phone. I will be exploring other possibilites of zippers on the outside instead of the strap on the front. I do like the stitching around the pockets so I may just leave the pocket style, but make it a zipper pocket for more security of contents. The great thing about new designs is I get to alter them a million times before they are perfect, right:)

New Rose Applique Cases

I added two new additions to my shop today. They are both made with all leather and fully lined. (on the left; distressed leather with handcut rose applique design) (right; dark blue leather with yellow and green leather. I used some green ultrasuede on both bags just on a single leaf for a nice soft texture. Perfect for those who are tactile. Its so soft, you cant help but want to touch it.

Completed Applique Case

This one is now listed in my shop for sale. I will be focusing on some small cases this week for my shop as well as a few gifts for family. This year things are tight and I cant do everything I normally do, but I am trying not to stress out too much about it:) I am thankful that I have the skills to create so many different things. I think people appreciate the handmade gifts the most anyways.
I always do;)

Blue and Yellow Daisy Zipper Coin Purse

Since I am already working with blue and yellow leather for the custom bag I am working on, I decided to make this small zipper purse. I have some new laptop satchel style bags that I will be working on and also more large top handle bags with flowers for my show coming up in November.

Custom Work Today

I finished up a small coin purse this morning and am now working on a large bag for a custom order. I am in the process of sewing on the petals to the foundation and giving them the detailed stitching with my machine. Some news, I will be participating in the "Arts and Flowers Luncheon scheduled for Thursday, November 5, 2009 at Harrah’s Hotel and Casino in Reno. The “Artisan Mall” begins at 10:30 am and will continue throughout the luncheon until approximately 2 pm.

4th of July Weekend

Its been a busy couple weeks. I was at the West Street Market last Friday at the Opening night of Art+Music night featuring some great bands by The Holland Project.

Here is a slideshow of the event http://www.uniquehandbags.net/Galleries/Shows/

After the event, I went to Colfax for the afternoon to visit family before heading back home. I recently added 4 new leather and vinyl zipper coin purses to my Etsy shop. One is shipping off to Canada today, yay!

I'd like to focus more on making some larger bags using this technique of cutting the flower petals in a more organic way.
I am having fun experimenting and getting to know my new machine. I am finally getting some use out of it. I cant believe that I ever went without it. I love my old home Singer, but what a big difference my new Bernina Industrial makes!

Small Zippered Coin Purse

A small zippered coin purse was just listed in my Etsy shop.
I used some poly-tape for the stems and finished the edges with a zigzag stitch. Handcut leather flowers with rivets were secured to the top of each stem.
